Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi said on Thursday he was confident that his country will overcome the current Ukraine and COVID-19 crises and their repercussions, stressing that the forces of evil continue to seek his homeland’s destruction.

Sisi was speaking on the anniversary of the June 30th Revolution, which marks the crackdown on the Muslim Brotherhood that Egyptian authorities consider a terrorist organization.

The President said the majority of Egyptians are now facing two of the most difficult and harsh global crises, namely the coronavirus pandemic and the Russian-Ukrainian crisis.

“The magnitude of the damage that affected the biggest economies is no secret, causing disruption of global supply chains. This is in addition to the war and the associated unprecedented food crisis, in terms of stocks and prices,” Sisi stressed.

He said if it were not for the National Program for Economic Reform, which has been implemented successfully and accurately since 2016, and the development efforts achieved in the past years, confronting the repercussions of the current international situation would have been extremely difficult.

Sisi also stressed that Egypt is on the right path with a solid national will that seeks to achieve the aspirations of its citizens for a decent life and a safe future.

Speaking on the June 30th Revolution, he said it is a defining moment in the history of this precious homeland.

Sisi said his country “has encountered ferocious waves of black terrorism; a cursed alliance between the forces of evil and destruction that sought and still seeks to destroy our homeland,” adding that these waves were broken on the rocks of the robust will of the Egyptian people.

The Egyptian President said that his country has faced unprecedented economic conditions since he assumed power in 2014.

“We relied … on the legendary perseverance of a great people, who once taught humanity civilization and modernity. And today, they give an example in realizing the value of the homeland and the importance of preserving it, while enduring the hardships for the sake of that,” he stressed.
