The Arab League at the level of Foreign Ministers approved the appointment of Saudi candidate Khalid bin Mohammed Manzlawi, as Assistant Secretary-General for a five-year term.

The Council also approved the nomination of Qatar’s candidate, Ambassador Ali bin Ibrahim al-Malki, as Assistant Secretary-General for Economic Affairs, replacing Ambassador Mubarak al-Hajri.

The Secretariat General announced the appointments at the conclusion of the 158th ordinary session in Cairo, Egypt.

On Tuesday, the Arab foreign ministers discussed the political, security, economic, legal, and social issues of joint Arab action. The meeting came within the framework of the 158th session of the League, chaired by Libya.

The discussions dealt with issues of food security, the impact of the war in Ukraine on the region, and the recent developments in the Arab area.

On the sidelines of the session, three ministerial committees held talks, including the Arab Quartet Ministerial Committee on the developments of the crisis with Iran, the Arab Ministerial Committee on Follow-up of Turkish Interventions in the Internal Affairs of Arab Countries, and the Arab Ministerial Committee on Action to Stop Israeli Measures in the Occupied City of Jerusalem.
