The festival attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors every year in a family-oriented fun environment - WAM.

The Sheikh Zayed Festival 2022-2023 will be launched on 18th November at Al Wathba in Abu Dhabi, under the auspices of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The new edition of the festival will include more than 4,000 events, in addition to 750 major public performances and activities over 120 days of entertainment, according to the Higher Organizing Committee of the festival.

The festival will conclude its events on the 18th March, 2023, and is being held this year under the slogan "UAE: Uniting Civilizations".

The committee explained that in its current round, the festival will continue to focus on expressing its main messages of preserving UAE national heritage, affirming the depth of the Emirati civilization and carrying it through to future generations, as well as boosting its role in promoting Abu Dhabi's status as a leading touristic and cultural destination in the region and the whole world, state news agency WAM reported.

The festival will include the Union Parade, National Day celebrations, New Year's celebrations, as well as Global Parade, Al Wathba Custom Show and other events that are sure to please everyone in the family.

Scaffolding went up in Venice on Tuesday to restore a mural by the elusive street artist Banksy that had appeared on the side of a 17th century building in the lagoon city six years ago.

"Migrant Child" shows a boy wearing a lifejacket and holding a pink flare, representing the artist's support for migrant sea rescue charities.

But being exposed to Venice's notorious humidity and painted on the canal-facing side of a crumbling palazzo, it was in danger of fading into oblivion.

The building, unoccupied when Banksy worked on it, was bought last year by an Italian bank that is now funding its entire restoration, mural included.

Banca Ifis is planning to turn the Palazzo San Pantalon into an exhibition space linked to the Venice Biennale art fair, it said in a statement.

The three-story building is in the Dorsoduro neighborhood, near Venice's main university. The well-known Zaha Hadid Architects studio is working on the renovation project.
