Saudi-China Summit: Deepening Ties Within Framework of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership

Saudi Arabia and China stressed in a joint statement on Friday the importance of continuing joint action in all fields and deepening relations within the framework of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, met with visiting Chinese President Xi Jinping in Riyadh on Thursday.

King Salman and Xi signed the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement between the Kingdom and China.

The statement said that the two sides reaffirmed that they will continue to firmly back each other's core interests, support each other in maintaining their sovereignty and territorial integrity, and exert joint efforts to defend the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of states.

Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its adherence to the One-China principle. Moreover, Beijing expressed support for the Kingdom in maintaining its security and stability and affirmed its rejection to any action that would interfere in the internal affairs of the Kingdom. The statement also said that China rejects any attack targeting civilians, civilian facilities, territories, and Saudi interests.

The two sides stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation through the high-level Saudi-Chinese Joint Committee to achieve common goals, enhancing cooperation between the two countries in all fields, and intensifying communication between the government and private sectors in the two states to discuss economic, trade and investment opportunities to transform them into tangible partnerships.

Saudi Arabia and China also agreed to enhance cooperation in areas that aim to improve the economic and development relationship between the two countries.

The Saudi government reiterated on Tuesday its welcoming of the International Court of Justice’s (ICJ) advisory opinion on Israel’s policies and practices in the occupied Palestinian territories and the court’s confirmation of the illegality of the Israeli presence in the territories over the past 57 years.

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud chaired the cabinet meeting that was held in Jeddah.

The government renewed the Kingdom’s position on the need for practical and credible steps to be taken to reach a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict according to the 2002 Arab peace initiative and international resolutions.

The cabinet was briefed on the telephone talks held between Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, with French President Emmanuel Macron, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani.

The calls focused on joint relations and ways to boost and develop them.

The cabinet reviewed the latest regional and international developments and Saudi Arabia’s ongoing efforts to end the war on Gaza and support peace in Yemen to achieve regional security and stability.

It urged the international community, particularly active and influential parties, to assume its responsibilities and stop tensions in the region.

At the domestic level, the cabinet reviewed the latest economic developments and key indicators, including the stabilization of inflation in recent months due to the robustness of the Kingdom's economy and the effective measures and policies implemented to address the ramifications of rising global prices.
