More than 2.5 million pilgrims are standing at Arafat on Thursday – a dignified spectacle of worshippers praying that God accepts their deeds, forgive their sins and grant mercy to the deceased, after the completion of Mina rituals on Wednesday.

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz is overseeing the services and facilities provided to pilgrims to perform their duty easily and safely. He is also supervising the public transportation plan of pilgrims in Al Mashaer Al Moqadasa.

On Saturday, King Salman is expected to sponsor the annual ceremony in the Royal Court in Mina to celebrate the state leaders and Islamic figures who came to perform Hajj this year. Friday morning, the pilgrims and the Islamic world will fete Eid Al-Adha.

Relevant government and private parties are competing to provide the best services for the guests of Allah, especially in the health sector.

The Ministry of Health is providing its medical and health services this year though thousands of medics and nurses. The Saudi Red Crescent is also offering its emergency services via thousands of people mobilized to serve the pilgrims.

Furthermore, the Presidency of the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques announced that the first phase of its plan for this hajj season has succeeded. Its head Abdulrahman al-Sudais said that the technical, engineering, preaching, scientific and guiding cadres of the presidency have contributed to this success.

The total number of pilgrims who have reached Madinah to perform Hajj this season reached 867,945, according to daily statistics by National Pilgrim-Guides Foundation.

Kuwait's foreign ministry issued on Sunday a circular indicating that it had listed eight hospitals in Lebanon as part of regulations related to "combating terrorism.”

Lebanon's health ministry expressed surprise and said it would seek clarification.

It said it received the Kuwaiti statement "with great surprise", adding it had not been provided with "any information or notification from any Kuwaiti entity about this matter.”

"The hospitals mentioned in the statement are registered with the syndicate of private hospitals in Lebanon and carry out their role in providing treatment and health services to all Lebanese without exception," the ministry statement said.

It called the facilities "an essential part of the Lebanese health system,” and said it would contact the relevant authorities to request clarification and "protect Lebanon's health system.”

It noted that "Kuwait has numerous joint projects with the ministry... and has been among the most prominent countries that have stood by the health system during the successive crises that Lebanon has faced.”

The latest move was "unprecedented and inconsistent" with the Gulf country's usual approach, it added.
