National Assembly Speaker Marzouq al-Ghanim will meet with other Kuwaiti lawmakers on Tuesday to brief them on an “important message” from Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah regarding current regional developments.

“Regional developments are moving at a very fast pace,” Ghanim told reporters on Sunday.

“These exceptional dangerous circumstances should be handled in a wise and astute manner,” he said.

Ghanim called on lawmakers to “focus on priorities” as he alluded to “real dangers” on the regional scale.

These issues should be delivered to the Kuwaiti people in “complete transparency”, he added.

“The primary weapon to face these challenges is by fortifying our internal front with actions, not only words, by getting behind the political leadership in the form of the Emir,” he said.

The Emir of Kuwait has always warned against the risks faced by his country as a result of the volatile regional situation.

"We must not lose sight of the igniting situation around us and the dangers that threaten our path," Emir of Kuwait said in his address to the opening session of the second legislative term of the National Assembly on Oct. 24.

Notably, Kuwaiti sources have talked during the past few days about boosting security measures in Kuwait to face possible risks, represented in the entrance of ISIS militants to their territory, after the defeat of the organization in Iraq.

Security services put their bodies on standby, including the borders and airport centers, the security of vital installations, police and public security to take all measures to deal with potential risks.

Kuwait, which has already faced terrorist incidents linked to ISIS, is seeking to raise the state of alert throughout the country.

News says that Kuwaiti fears stem from information obtained by the security services that elements belonging to ISIS could flee through the Kuwait-Iraq border after the organization's defeat in its most important stronghold in Mosul on June 29.

Kuwait's foreign ministry issued on Sunday a circular indicating that it had listed eight hospitals in Lebanon as part of regulations related to "combating terrorism.”

Lebanon's health ministry expressed surprise and said it would seek clarification.

It said it received the Kuwaiti statement "with great surprise", adding it had not been provided with "any information or notification from any Kuwaiti entity about this matter.”

"The hospitals mentioned in the statement are registered with the syndicate of private hospitals in Lebanon and carry out their role in providing treatment and health services to all Lebanese without exception," the ministry statement said.

It called the facilities "an essential part of the Lebanese health system,” and said it would contact the relevant authorities to request clarification and "protect Lebanon's health system.”

It noted that "Kuwait has numerous joint projects with the ministry... and has been among the most prominent countries that have stood by the health system during the successive crises that Lebanon has faced.”

The latest move was "unprecedented and inconsistent" with the Gulf country's usual approach, it added.
