Heavy rain in the western province of Saudi Arabia on Tuesday led to the suspension of school classes and flights delays.

The heavy rain affected Jeddah, Mecca and Medina and other regions.

Marine navigation at Jeddah port was also suspended.

The heavy rain, high winds and low visibility resulted in the suspension of classes in many provinces at the recommendation of the General Directorate of Civil Defense and Presidency of Meteorology and Environment.

The poor weather is expected to continue for the coming hours.

The Civil Defense warned that thunderstorms will affect the majority of Saudi Arabian regions.

The Center for Crisis and Disaster Management in the Mecca province warned locals against heading to valleys and flood-prone areas due to the heavy rains.

In a series of tweets, it said that the majority of roads in the area have become inaccessible due to the high water levels.

It said that the rain has also affected Jeddah and the city of Mecca.

Presidency of Meteorology and Environment warned that the Kingdom could expect moderate thunderstorms accompanied with dust-carrying winds in the Medina and Mecca regions. The regions of Ha'il, al-Qassim, Rafha, Hafar Al-Batin, al-Dawadmi and northern parts of the eastern province will also be affected.

Kuwait's foreign ministry issued on Sunday a circular indicating that it had listed eight hospitals in Lebanon as part of regulations related to "combating terrorism.”

Lebanon's health ministry expressed surprise and said it would seek clarification.

It said it received the Kuwaiti statement "with great surprise", adding it had not been provided with "any information or notification from any Kuwaiti entity about this matter.”

"The hospitals mentioned in the statement are registered with the syndicate of private hospitals in Lebanon and carry out their role in providing treatment and health services to all Lebanese without exception," the ministry statement said.

It called the facilities "an essential part of the Lebanese health system,” and said it would contact the relevant authorities to request clarification and "protect Lebanon's health system.”

It noted that "Kuwait has numerous joint projects with the ministry... and has been among the most prominent countries that have stood by the health system during the successive crises that Lebanon has faced.”

The latest move was "unprecedented and inconsistent" with the Gulf country's usual approach, it added.
