King Felipe VI of Spain received Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman on Thursday at the Zarzuela palace on the outskirts of Madrid.

The Spanish monarch will hold a luncheon in honor of the crown prince, with the attendance of the senior Spanish officials and businessmen.

The Saudi Royal Court said in a statement on Wednesday that the crown prince is on a visit to Spain upon directives of King Salman and in response to an invitation from the Madrid government.

Prince Mohammed, who is Vice President of the Council of Ministers, and Minister of Defense of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, also met Thursday in Madrid the Minister of Defense of the Kingdom of Spain Maria Dolores de Cospedal.

Upon the arrival of HRH Crown Prince at the Ministry of Defense Headquarters, the national anthems of the two countries were played, and they reviewed the Guard of Honor.

During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral relations; ways of enhancing cooperation between the two countries in defense and military fields, the promising opportunities to transfer and localize technology in line with Saudi Vision 2030; the latest developments in the Middle East and the world, and the efforts being exerted regarding them, including efforts to fight terrorism and combat extremism.

The meeting was attended by Prince Mansour bin Khalid bin Farhan, Saudi Ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain, HRH Crown Prince's accompanying delegation, and senior officials of the Spanish Ministry of Defense.

Kuwait's foreign ministry issued on Sunday a circular indicating that it had listed eight hospitals in Lebanon as part of regulations related to "combating terrorism.”

Lebanon's health ministry expressed surprise and said it would seek clarification.

It said it received the Kuwaiti statement "with great surprise", adding it had not been provided with "any information or notification from any Kuwaiti entity about this matter.”

"The hospitals mentioned in the statement are registered with the syndicate of private hospitals in Lebanon and carry out their role in providing treatment and health services to all Lebanese without exception," the ministry statement said.

It called the facilities "an essential part of the Lebanese health system,” and said it would contact the relevant authorities to request clarification and "protect Lebanon's health system.”

It noted that "Kuwait has numerous joint projects with the ministry... and has been among the most prominent countries that have stood by the health system during the successive crises that Lebanon has faced.”

The latest move was "unprecedented and inconsistent" with the Gulf country's usual approach, it added.
