Saudi Ambassador to Jordan Prince Khaled bin Faisal bin Turki stressed Tuesday that Saudi-Jordanian relations are historic and firm.
He expressed his appreciation for Jordan’s honorable stances on all Arab, regional and international issues, based on King Abdullah II vision that takes into consideration Arab view and common interests in decision-making.
During a meeting organized by the Jordanian-Saudi parliamentary committee, Prince Khaled said that relations between Amman and Riyadh are based on effective coordination between both countries’ leaderships and governments in various fields.
He stressed that Saudi Arabia “will never hesitate” to provide the necessary support to Jordan, which suffers difficult economic conditions, so it can continue its pivotal role in the region, especially under the huge burden stemming from receiving several refugee influxes as a result of regional conflicts.
The Ambassador pointed out that communication between the two leaderships is direct and based on the supreme interests of the two countries, adding that "all the rumors that have been and are being circulated through social media on Saudi positions are suspicious and intended to disrupt the pivotal and important role played by the Kingdom for the benefit of the Arab and Islamic nation.”
Saudi Arabia is committed to the united Arab track, believing in the importance of joint Arab action under the umbrella of the Arab League and the Islamic Conference, Prince Khaled noted.
He also highlighted the importance of the Hashemite role in custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, noting that Riyadh's stance comes in line with that of Amman in these issues.
He reiterated his country's continued economic support to Jordan through increasing assistance and boosting investments in the country.
MP Kheir Abu Saalik, head of the panel, for his part, commended the Saudi stances towards Jordan, especially at the Makkah summit, which highlights the “brotherly alliance” between the two countries.
Abu Saalik highlighted the importance of holding similar periodic meetings to further enhance ties and increase exchanging views on issues of common interest.
He pointed out that Saudi positions in support of Jordan are appreciated by the Jordanian leadership, government and people.
He also pointed out that these positions stem from Saudi Arabia's love for Jordan, which is not governed by individual interests as it stems from an Arab position based on respect and common destiny.
