Kuwait’s defense minister issued an order to refer a number of indicted army officers to the public prosecution and military judiciary to be charged over their involvement in the death of military academy cadet students in Ali al-Sabah Military Academy last August.
First Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Sheikh Nasser Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah issued a decree sending the criminal findings of Joint Commission of Inquiry to the Public Prosecution and administrative findings to the military judiciary.
The edict came as the Joint Commission of Inquiry entrusted with investigations into the incident completed its job and came up with relevant findings, and then submitted its final report to Sheikh Nasser Sabah.
Army’s Department of Moral Guidance and Public Relations announced on Tuesday that the Commission has completed its investigation into the incident.
The Commission included representatives from the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Public Health and Ministry of Justice.
In this regard, Sheikh Nasser voiced deep gratitude to the ministries for their efforts and participation in the joint panel, according to the statement. He also expressed his confidence in the military establishment and its personnel.
In September, the defense minister suspended a number of military officials and referred them to investigation after a number of cadets died due to overexposure to the sun during the training. This was not the first incident of such kind, as two other cadets died in April sparking protests among public opinion.
The Kuwaiti defense minister vowed to hold the culprit accountable if the investigation showed negligence.
