The United Arab Emirates welcomed on Tuesday the signing of the Riyadh Agreement, underlining its support for all efforts that serve the interests of the people of Yemen.

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz sponsored the signing of the agreement between the legitimate government and Southern Transitional Council (STC) that took place in the Saudi capital on Tuesday. The ceremony was attended by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan, Yemeni President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi and STC chief Aidarous al-Zubaidi and several senior officials.

A statement by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation commended the wisdom of King Salman bin Abdulaziz for playing an essential role in bringing various Yemeni parties to the negotiating table and reaching this critical agreement that strengthens their efforts to confront the threats targeting Yemen.

The statement also expressed appreciation for the positive and constructive role played by Saudi Arabia in Yemen, where the Kingdom represents a central pillar of security for Arab and Gulf states.

The statement underscored the importance of cooperation between Yemeni forces and their prioritization of the higher national interest to confront threats against their country, namely from the Iran-backed Houthi militias.

The statement called for the unification of efforts by the international community to support Yemen to bolster its stability and contribute to developing its economy.

The UAE reaffirmed its commitment to standing with the Yemeni people and supporting their legitimate ambitions in fostering security and peace against the backdrop of a political climate that encourages all efforts in service of the region’s peoples.

The UAE also praised the Saudi-led Arab coalition and its role in preserving the region’s security, stability and prosperity and emphasized its commitment to the alliance.

Kuwait's foreign ministry issued on Sunday a circular indicating that it had listed eight hospitals in Lebanon as part of regulations related to "combating terrorism.”

Lebanon's health ministry expressed surprise and said it would seek clarification.

It said it received the Kuwaiti statement "with great surprise", adding it had not been provided with "any information or notification from any Kuwaiti entity about this matter.”

"The hospitals mentioned in the statement are registered with the syndicate of private hospitals in Lebanon and carry out their role in providing treatment and health services to all Lebanese without exception," the ministry statement said.

It called the facilities "an essential part of the Lebanese health system,” and said it would contact the relevant authorities to request clarification and "protect Lebanon's health system.”

It noted that "Kuwait has numerous joint projects with the ministry... and has been among the most prominent countries that have stood by the health system during the successive crises that Lebanon has faced.”

The latest move was "unprecedented and inconsistent" with the Gulf country's usual approach, it added.
