The Saudi cabinet expressed on Tuesday the Kingdom’s condemnation of the attacks launched by terrorist Iran-backed militias against US forces in Iraq.

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz chaired the cabinet meeting that was held in Riyadh.

The cabinet said that the attacks violate the sovereignty of Iraq, its stability and security. It urged cooperation between the Iraqi government and coalition forces to investigate the December 27 attack and take the appropriate measures to put an end to such hostile acts by Iran-backed groups.

The US military carried out air strikes on Sunday against the Kataib Hezbollah militia in response to the killing of a US civilian contractor in a Friday rocket attack on an Iraqi military base, officials said.

The cabinet also condemned the terrorist attacks that targeted the Somali capital Mogadishu that left at least 90 people dead and scores wounded on Saturday. It stressed the Kingdom’s rejection of all forms of violence, extremism and terrorism, offering their condolences to the people and government of Somalia.

Furthermore, the cabinet welcomed the sighing of an agreement between Saudi Arabia and Kuwait to resolve their disputes in their shared Neutral Zone. The deal reflects the special fraternal ties between Riyadh and Kuwait under the leadership of King Salman and Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

The cabinet also highlighted the meeting of independent representatives of the revolution forces and Syrian opposition that was held in Riyadh. The meeting underlined the importance of pursuing the political process to achieve political transition according to international resolutions. It also condemned terrorism in all of its forms and demanded that foreign forces and militias withdraw from the country, starting with Iranian ones. It called on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities in this regard. The cabinet stressed the Kingdom’s keenness on the unity, sovereignty and stability of Syria.

Kuwait's foreign ministry issued on Sunday a circular indicating that it had listed eight hospitals in Lebanon as part of regulations related to "combating terrorism.”

Lebanon's health ministry expressed surprise and said it would seek clarification.

It said it received the Kuwaiti statement "with great surprise", adding it had not been provided with "any information or notification from any Kuwaiti entity about this matter.”

"The hospitals mentioned in the statement are registered with the syndicate of private hospitals in Lebanon and carry out their role in providing treatment and health services to all Lebanese without exception," the ministry statement said.

It called the facilities "an essential part of the Lebanese health system,” and said it would contact the relevant authorities to request clarification and "protect Lebanon's health system.”

It noted that "Kuwait has numerous joint projects with the ministry... and has been among the most prominent countries that have stood by the health system during the successive crises that Lebanon has faced.”

The latest move was "unprecedented and inconsistent" with the Gulf country's usual approach, it added.
