The Yemeni army has been fighting fierce battles against the escalatory measures taken by Houthi-coup militias in al-Jawf and Marib provinces.
Backed by the Saudi-led Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen, the army has inflicted heavy casualties and material losses on the militias.
“The National Army fought on Saturday fierce battles on various fronts in al-Khab and Shaaf directorates, causing militias to suffer losses in their ranks and combat equipment,” said official military sources in Jawf.
They said military equipment and vehicles were destructed, and the army detained some Houthi elements.
In western Marib, the armed forces’ media center said forces have liberated new areas in Sarwah front after launching a large-scale attack on militia-based sites.
“Groups of Houthi elements sought to infiltrate locations in Sarwah front, but the army thwarted their attempts and launched a counter-attack during which it was able to advance and liberate a number of strategic sites,” the center said in a statement.
It pointed out that battles lasted for about seven hours and resulted in killing and injuring many Houthi elements, noting that many elements had fled the battles.
Meanwhile, President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi stressed on unifying ranks while facing the coup and promised to provide all forms of support to the local authorities in Marib.
Saba news agency quoted Governor of Marib province Sultan al-Arada as affirming people’s readiness to support the legitimate government in facing the militias and restoring stability and security.
In a phone call with Arada, Hadi praised the honorable and heroic stances taken by people in Marib and Saba to defend the state in its battle against the coup militias.
The President was briefed on the latest field developments and services needed in the governorate, stressing the importance of establishing security and stability in general.
