Houthi militias continue to block humanitarian aid in Yemen, the US National Security Council said on Wednesday.
“While Saudi Arabia is hosting a donor’s conference to help the people of Yemen, the Houthis continue to obstruct the delivery of vital humanitarian assistance,” NSC said on its Twitter account.
The tweet came a day after Saudi Arabia hosted a donor conference for Yemen in partnership with the UN where the Kingdom pledged an aid package worth $500 million.
“Instead of heeding UN calls for a ceasefire, the Houthis are attacking Saudi Arabia with explosive UAVs provided by Iran,” NSC said.
“It is time for the Houthis to work toward a peaceful solution to end the conflict in Yemen,” it added.
NSC is the US president's principal forum for considering national security and foreign policy matters with his senior national security advisors and cabinet officials.
