A tripartite summit was held in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday between King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain, Jordan’s King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

The summit focused on the deep-rooted fraternal ties between the three countries and ways to enhance them to achieve the aspirations of their peoples, Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported. Also discussed were regional and international developments of common interest, it said.

The three leaders reviewed means for stepping up cooperation and integration in various fields, particularly healthcare, food, medicine and security, and the efforts to contain the spread of the coronavirus and mitigate its economic, health and social impacts.

The summit also touched on regional and international developments, including the Palestinian cause and the need for just and comprehensive peace.

The leaders emphasized the strong fraternal relations between their countries and the importance of accelerating them to higher levels to fulfil the aspirations of their people for progress and prosperity, WAM reported.

They also stressed the importance of continued coordination and consultations among the Arab countries on various issues of common interest, in a way that serves the Arab causes.

Kuwait's foreign ministry issued on Sunday a circular indicating that it had listed eight hospitals in Lebanon as part of regulations related to "combating terrorism.”

Lebanon's health ministry expressed surprise and said it would seek clarification.

It said it received the Kuwaiti statement "with great surprise", adding it had not been provided with "any information or notification from any Kuwaiti entity about this matter.”

"The hospitals mentioned in the statement are registered with the syndicate of private hospitals in Lebanon and carry out their role in providing treatment and health services to all Lebanese without exception," the ministry statement said.

It called the facilities "an essential part of the Lebanese health system,” and said it would contact the relevant authorities to request clarification and "protect Lebanon's health system.”

It noted that "Kuwait has numerous joint projects with the ministry... and has been among the most prominent countries that have stood by the health system during the successive crises that Lebanon has faced.”

The latest move was "unprecedented and inconsistent" with the Gulf country's usual approach, it added.
