Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud received Member of Sudan’s Sovereign Council Mohammed Al-Faki Suleiman at his office in Riyadh on Wednesday.
The two officials reviewed bilateral relations as well as issues of common interest.
The prince hosted a lunch in honor of the member of the Sudanese Transitional Sovereign Council and his accompanying delegation.
The Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowment, Nasr Edeen Mufreh, and the Director of General Intelligence Service, Lt-General, Jamal Abdel Majid also attended the meeting.
Mufreh said in press statements that the Sudanese official briefed the Saudi FM on the situations in Sudan, especially on borders with Ethiopia.
For the past weeks, Sudanese-Ethiopian ties witnessed mounting tension in the wake of armed attacks conducted by the Ethiopian forces on a Sudanese patrol.
Several individuals and citizens were killed during these attacks.
In the same context, a high-ranking delegation from United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) led by its deputy commander Andrew Young arrived in Sudan for a two-day visit.
The US officials discussed with the Sudanese officers the development of bilateral ties and the reinforcement of military and security cooperation.
Young said in a press statement that the US is looking forward to working with the people and government of Sudan during this transitional period.
Sudan News Agency reported that the Sudanese Chief of Staff informed the US official that the armed forces look forward to developing the military cooperation with the US in all fields.
This came as a senior Sudanese officer reiterated that the Sudanese Armed Forces hold on to the territories restored from Ethiopia in al-Fashqa.
Commander of the 2nd Infantry Division Major General Haider Al-Tarifi stressed that “not an inch in the Sudanese areas of al-Fashqa” will be relinquished. Tarifi also announced opening recruitment for the armed forces in Al Qadarif state.
