Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates Nasser Bourita held talks on Tuesday via videoconference with his Omani counterpart Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood al-Busaidi.
According to a foreign ministry statement, the talks came in line with the fraternal bilateral relations, regular consultation and political coordination.
Bourita hailed Muscat’s firm stance in support of the kingdom’s sovereignty over its Western Sahara region and the unity of its territories, as well as the measures taken to defend its security and sovereignty.
He also praised the Sultanate’s sustained leading and balanced role in the region, thanks to the leadership of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq al-Said, as well as his efforts to bridge differences in many regional and international issues.
Both ministers reviewed bilateral relations, especially after the meeting of the 5th Joint Moroccan-Omani Commission in Muscat in January.
The FMs said they look forward to hold the next round of talks in the kingdom after the situation of the coronavirus pandemic improves.
Talks also tackled Arab and regional issues, and both sides agreed on the need to solve conflicts through dialogue and understanding.
They stressed the importance of maintaining security and stability while preserving the territorial integrity of Arab states.
Busaidi highly praised the wise policy of King Mohammed VI and his leading role in defending Arab and Islamic causes, especially that of the Palestinians.
