UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres received at the UN Headquarters in New York on Sunday, Dr. Muhammad Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League, who is also Chairman of the Association of Muslim Scholars and General Supervisor of the Forum on Civilization Communication.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the initiative presented by Dr. Al-Issa to strengthen international efforts to counter hatred and protect places of worship around the world through diverse and effective programs.
Al-Issa expressed appreciation to Guterres for the great support he showed in the initiative, which was presented in the presence and support of Ronald Lauder, an American activist who advocates for building bridges and fighting hatred around the world.
The meeting was also attended by the High Representative of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations Miguel Angel Moratinos, who commended the initiative and stressed the importance of supporting it.
