Saudi Arabia Says Supports US Efforts to Prevent Iran from Acquiring Nuclear Arms

The Saudi government reiterated on Tuesday the Kingdom's keenness to resolve all tensions in the region.

It stressed that it supports the American administration's efforts to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, underlining the need for joint work to confront the harmful activities of its proxies.

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz chaired the cabinet meeting that was held in person in Riyadh.

The cabinet hailed President Joe Biden for expressing his country's commitment to defending Saudi Arabia defend its territories and citizens and meet its defense needs to bolster joint efforts to protect its security and the security and stability of the region.

The ministers reviewed the contacts carried out during the past week by King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman with various world leaders.

The government tackled various regional developments. It expressed its appreciation to friendly and fraternal countries and organizations for voicing their condemnation of the Iran-backed Houthi militias in Yemen after they attempted to target civilians and travelers at Abha International Airport last week.

The ministers slammed the attack as a violation of international law and as a war crime. It demonstrates the Houthis' ongoing violations and hostility and their rejection of peace calls.

The government stressed Saudi Arabia's keenness on reaching a comprehensive political solution to the crisis in Yemen according to the three references: the Gulf initiative, national dialogue outcomes and United Nations Security Council resolution 2216.

Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, received on Tuesday a letter from Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu Hassan on bilateral relations between their countries.

The message was received by Saudi Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Waleed Elkhereiji during a meeting in Riyadh with Tanzanian Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation Mahmoud Thabit Kombo.

During the meeting, the diplomats reviewed relations between their countries and ways to strengthen and develop them in all fields.

Saudi Arabia condemned on Tuesday Israel’s approval of the construction of 19 settlements in the occupied West Bank in violation of relevant UN resolutions.

A Foreign Ministry statement reiterated the Kingdom’s call on the international community to assume its responsibility to end these violations.

It renewed its unwavering support for the Palestinian people and its continued efforts to establish an independent Palestinian state according to the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with the Arab Peace Initiative and international resolutions.
