Kuwait has pledged to increase support for Yemen in various political, economic and humanitarian fields, and to back UN efforts to achieve comprehensive peace and stability in the country.

Kuwaiti Crown Prince Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al Sabah met on Wednesday with Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, Chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, and his accompanying delegation at Bayan Palace.

Sheikh Mishaal expressed his sincere hopes that peace, security and comprehensive stability would be achieved throughout Yemen. He affirmed Kuwait’s full backing for all efforts led by the coalition to support legitimacy, foremost of which the Saudi endeavor at the political, economic and humanitarian levels.

Al-Alimi expressed his gratitude to Kuwait, the Emir, the government and the people, for all the support that Yemen has enjoyed during the past decade, by preventing the collapse of the state and deterring the coup militia backed by the Iranian regime.

Ali bin Safaa, Yemen’s ambassador to Kuwait, described the visit of the Yemeni official as successful.

In remarks to Asharq Al-Awsat, Safaa said that the chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council and his accompanying delegation discussed with the Kuwaiti leadership the political situation and the recent initiatives, including the UN-sponsored truce.

“Kuwait has excellent relations with the parties in the region and the whole world, and has shown its commitment to the Yemeni legitimacy,” he said, adding that officials during the meetings have agreed to revive Arab and Kuwaiti funds that were suspended due to the war, and reviewed a number of files in health, education, services and support for expatriates in Kuwait.

The Kuwaiti officials also pledged to reconsider enhancing support in various cooperation programs, especially at the economic, humanitarian, political, and service levels, including increasing the number of academic scholarships in the security and military fields, and providing the necessary facilities for Yemeni residents and expatriates and their children in Kuwait.
