Director of Civil-Military Operations of the Joint Forces Major General Abdullah bin Dakhil Al-Hababi inaugurated on Yemen’s Socotra Island several alternative classes as part of a project to provide education supplements for females who have dropped out of school.

The project was funded by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) and implemented by the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) in cooperation with the Al-Khair Coalition for Humanitarian Relief.

During the inauguration, Commander of the Support Force on Socotra Island Brigadier General Mohammed Al-Mutairi received Al-Hababi in the presence of the Governor of Socotra and other senior officials in the governorate.

Undersecretary of Socotra Governorate Brigadier General Saleh Al-Socatri praised the Saudi efforts, represented by KSRelief, for its continuous support of the education sector in Yemen. The project includes several interventions to provide better education opportunities for Yemeni girls.

Under the project, KSRelief will supply office furniture and equipment to 21 schools and provide 64 alternative classrooms that improve opportunities for girls' education. Additionally, school bags will be distributed to 19,000 female students, and training programs will be implemented for 350 teachers.

Professional and vocational support will be provided to heads of families of orphan girls, and awareness-raising campaigns will be carried out to encourage girls' enrollment in education.

Director of the Emergency Relief Department at KSRelief Fahad Al-Osaimi stressed that the center would continue on implementing its plans on the island, especially in education, to provide alternative classes for females.

The United Nations reaffirmed its unwavering support for efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Palestine, Lebanon, and all conflict zones across the Middle East, following the calls made at the Extraordinary Arab and Islamic Summit held in Riyadh on Monday.
UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric told the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) that the international organization remains committed to supporting all efforts aimed at de-escalating the situation in the region. This includes working towards a ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon, as well as the unconditional release of all hostages in Gaza, as reported by SPA on Wednesday.
He emphasized that UN Secretary-General António Guterres continues to stress the importance of ending the Israeli occupation and implementing the two-state solution, which is viewed as a fair and lasting resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The Arab and Islamic Summit was convened at the initiative of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and was chaired by Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
