Saudi Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Al-Khorayef has concluded an official visit to the United States, where he led a high-level delegation from the Kingdom’s industrial and mining sectors. The trip aimed to strengthen economic ties between the two countries and explore joint investment opportunities in industry and mining.
According to a statement from the ministry, Al-Khorayef held meetings with senior US officials, including US Energy Secretary Chris Wright and North Carolina Commerce Secretary Lee Lilley. Discussions focused on expanding cooperation in industry and mining, highlighting opportunities in critical minerals, boosting bilateral trade, and facilitating access for Saudi non-oil exports to the American market.
The minister also met with leaders of several major US industrial and mining companies. These included food manufacturer General Mills, lithium-extraction technology firm Lilac Solutions, aerospace company RTX, chemicals producer International Flavors & Fragrances, Guardian Service Industries, Abbott medical devices, investment firm Skytower Global Investments, and mining group MP Materials.
Talks centered on prospects for joint investment, transferring advanced manufacturing and mining technologies, and localizing high-tech industries in Saudi Arabia.
Al-Khorayef chaired a roundtable on strengthening Saudi-American partnerships in industry and mining, attended by US government officials and private sector representatives. The meeting reviewed opportunities in priority sectors such as renewable energy, mining, healthcare, and advanced manufacturing.
As part of the visit, the minister toured North Carolina’s Research Triangle Park, including stops at the SAS Institute for artificial intelligence and the CAMAL advanced manufacturing center. He also met Saudi students studying at North Carolina State University and Duke University.
The itinerary further included a visit to Honeywell’s innovation showcase and Albemarle Corporation’s Kings Mountain lithium mine, where Al-Khorayef was briefed on the latest technologies for smart city development and best practices in mineral extraction.
The ministry’s statement emphasized that the visit reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to building strong international partnerships in industry and mining, in line with the goals of Vision 2030. The strategy seeks to transform Saudi Arabia into a leading industrial power and a global hub for mining and minerals.
