Saudi boxer Al-Baraa Al-Amoudi clinched the gold medal in the International Federation of Muaythai Associations (IFMA) Senior Championship 2024, held in Greece.
Al-Amoudi, competing in the under-23, 57 kg category, triumphed over a field of international competitors from over 80 countries. This marks a historic first for Saudi Arabia in Thai boxing, SPA reported.
His victory came in a nail-biting final against Russia's Igor Bikruve, where Al-Amoudi edged him out with a score of 29-28.
Al-Amoudi was not the only Saudi athlete to leave their mark on the championship. The Saudi delegation, consisting of 12 fighters, brought home several more medals.
