Paris 2024 sold a record 12 million tickets for the Olympics and Paralympics, beating the Games record previously set by London 2012, organizers said on Sunday, Reuters reported.

Some 9.5 million tickets were sold for the Olympics and 2.5 million for the Paralympics, which end on Sunday.

In 2012, London organizers set the record for the Paralympics with 2.7 million tickets sold but only 8.2 million were sold for the Olympics.

Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Congratulates Saudi Leadership on Al-Qurashi's Gold Medal at Paralympics

Minister of Sport and president of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal extended his congratulations to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, and the Saudi people over the gold medal in wheelchair athletics which was won at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games.

Abdulrahman Al-Qurashi won the medal after setting a new personal record with a time of 14.48 seconds, in the 100 m race.

The minister said that this distinguished achievement was the result of the great and unlimited support that the sports sector receives from the wise leadership.

He pointed out that Al-Qurashi's winning of the gold medal reflects the great interest and support from the leadership towards achieving the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030.
