The Saudi International Golf Tournament 2024, presented by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) and SoftBank, is preparing to welcome a select group of top global golf stars.
The championship, with a prize pool of $5 million, will take place from December 4 to 7 at Riyadh Golf Club, marking the final event of both the Asian Tour and the International Series.
The edition marks the first time the tournament will be held in Riyadh, following five successful editions hosted at Royal Greens Golf & Country Club in King Abdullah Economic City. This reflects Saudi Arabia's commitment to promoting golf on the global stage and the ongoing efforts of Saudi Golf and the Saudi Golf Federation (SGF) to attract major international sports events.
Leading the field at the championship is the world’s 16th-ranked player, Tyrrell Hatton, who arrives in Riyadh following a series of impressive achievements this year.
Hatton will be joined by a select group of global golf stars confirmed for the tournament, including defending champion Abraham Ancer, 2022 champion Harold Varner III, two-time champion (2019 and 2021) Dustin Johnson, and 2022 Open Championship winner Cameron Smith.
The presence of these stars and others adds greater competitiveness and excitement to the tournament, further solidifying its status as one of the premier events on the global golf calendar.
The championship will serve as the final stop in the series of ten prestigious international events, paving the way for players to qualify directly for the LIV Golf League. The champion of the International Series standings will secure a spot in the 2025 LIV Golf League.
Additionally, the top 32 qualified players in the standings, along with all 2024 Asian Tour champions, will participate in the LIV Golf promotional event, set to take place at Riyadh Golf Club from December 12 to 14.
The 2024 Asian Tour champion will also guarantee a spot in the top four positions of the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR).

Benfica forward Angel Di Maria said he is studying to become a coach as he will consider opportunities in the dug-out when he eventually ends his 20-year-long playing career.

The 36-year-old, who helped Argentina win the 2022 World Cup, retired from international soccer after winning his second Copa America trophy in July.

Former Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Paris St Germain player Di Maria has scored five goals and registered two assists in 14 appearances for Benfica this season, including a goal in their 4-0 win over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League last month.

"I am taking the course to be a coach. I am doing it just in case," Di Maria said in an interview with Clank Media published late on Monday. "From the age of 30 I started to see football differently and analyze it."

"I started to see it not only from the player´s side, but also how a coach can see it. I know that the coaching side is much more difficult because it takes much more time. As a player you just train and go home.

"When I retire, I would like to enjoy time with my family for a while but later on, maybe this can happen."

Di Maria, who joined Benfica last year from Italian side Juventus, has a contract with the Portuguese club valid until June 2025.
