Saudi Arabia’s Council of Economic and Development Affairs held a video conference meeting to review several key economic and strategic reports, reported the Saudi Press Agency on Tuesday.

The council reviewed the periodic report from the Ministry of Economy and Planning, which provided an assessment of the global economy, including international forecasts for global trade volume in 2025, performance summaries of major global economies, and persistent external challenges to the national economy.

The report underscored the continued flexibility and diversity of the Kingdom's economy in achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, citing a recovery in non-oil activities, whose share of the gross domestic product (GDP) reached 56%. It also highlighted the sustained improvement of the private sector.

The council discussed the quarterly report from its Strategic Management Office concerning the performance of the Saudi Vision 2030 realization programs and national strategies for the second quarter of the year.

The report showcased the primary achievements of national plans, updated performance indicators, and an overview of future aspirations. It highlighted continued remarkable progress across the Vision's three core pillars: a vibrant society, a thriving economy, and an ambitious nation.

The council discussed the performance report of public agencies for the second quarter of this year, submitted by the National Center for Performance Measurement (Adaa). The report detailed efforts to support and empower government bodies in achieving Vision 2030 goals, provided overall performance results of national strategies, and presented data on beneficiary satisfaction with government services, aspirations, and future steps.

A joint presentation by the Saudi Halal Center and the Halal Products Development Company focused on the progress of the halal sector. It covered the sector's size, key achievements, development pathways, targeted sub-sectors, and proposed solutions to challenges.

The council addressed several other items on its agenda. These included a semi-annual presentation by the National Center for Privatization & PPP on the contents of supervisory committees' reports, as well as summaries of annual reports by the Quality of Life Program Center and the Digital Content Council.

The council addressed various policy and procedural matters, such as the unified rules for empowering persons with disabilities in the Gulf Cooperation Council, as well as projects related to intellectual property, including patents and utility models, the new plant varieties system, the integrated circuit layout design system, and the design system.

The council was briefed on the results of the annual report of the Citizen Account Program and received several executive summaries on economic data, including the GDP and National Accounts Bulletin, foreign trade, the Consumer Price Index, and Wholesale Prices, along with the basic reports on which the summaries were based.

Necessary decisions and recommendations were then taken regarding all these matters.

Türkiye Petrolleri (TPAO) has signed a partnership agreement with Shell to carry out exploration work in Bulgaria's maritime zone, the Turkish energy ministry and British oil major said on Wednesday.

European Union member Bulgaria, which had been totally dependent on Russian gas until 2022, has been seeking to diversify its gas supplies and find cheaper sources, Reuters reported.

TPAO and Shell will jointly explore the Khan Tervel block, located near Türkiye's Sakarya gas field, and will hold a five-year licence in Bulgaria's exclusive economic zone, Minister Alparslan Bayraktar said.

Shell will continue as operator of the block, while TPAO will take a 33% interest in the licence, a Shell spokesperson said.

Since the start of this year, TPAO has signed energy cooperation agreements with ExxonMobil, Chevron and BP for possible exploration work in the Black Sea and the Mediterranean.

In April, Shell signed a contract with Bulgaria's government to allow the oil major to explore 4,000 square metres in the block.
