The Saudi Film Commission (SFC) issued on Tuesday its inaugural annual report, providing an overview of the Kingdom’s film sector in 2024 and highlighting key achievements and indicators.
The report covers incentive programs, infrastructure, festivals and awards, audience and revenue indicators, talent development, and film preservation and archiving.
It reflects progress in recent years and confirms the Kingdom’s commitment to consolidating its position as a regional and international hub for the film industry.
The report highlighted support for 64 projects through national incentive programs, generating more than SAR1.08 billion in local expenditure. It noted the impact of infrastructure, such as JAX Studios and NEOM Media Village, alongside qualification of Saudi talent through university programs, workshops, and specialized training labs.
The report showed that more than 17.5 million cinema tickets were sold in 2024, and infrastructure expanded to 64 cinema locations with 630 screens. The Kingdom boasts 17 film studios equipped with 37 sound-isolated stages. The number of production companies reached 65.
Fourteen projects received support through incentive programs, with total production spending on supported films amounting to SAR93.68 million.
More than 75,600 people took part in the Red Sea International Film Festival, the Saudi Film Festival, and the Gulf Cinema Festival, while the 2024 Saudi Film Confex attracted around 70,000 visitors, and 24 agreements were signed with a value of SAR226 million.
Meanwhile, Saudi films won 50 awards at international festivals.
