At least 35 Taliban militants, including Ihsanullah, the Taliban deputy shadow governor, were killed last night in shelling by the Afghan air force, Afghan TOLOnews reported on Saturday.

The attack took place in a village in Tagab district, when Taliban militants gathered before an attack on police checkpoints, said Abdul Razak Yaqobi, Provincial Police Commander in central Afghanistan.

Many residents also confirmed that Taliban had suffered a large number of casualties in airstrikes.

The Taliban have not commented on the report yet.
