The Yemeni government urged Arab nations to unify their stance against Iran’s agenda for destabilizing Arab countries through hostile and terrorist actions.
This came in statements by Yemeni caretaker Information Minister Muammar al-Eryani that he made in the aftermath of Saudi Arabia successfully busting a terrorist cell that had received training by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards.
In his statements, Eryani praised the state of alertness and readiness of the security services in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and renewed his strong condemnation of Iran’s support for terrorism in the region.
After reiterating Yemen’s condemnation of Iran’s hostility, Eryani clarified that the recent incident reflects Tehran regime's interference in Arab affairs to destabilize security and stability, and confirms adopted sabotage policies dedicated to sowing chaos and terrorism in the region.
Eryani expressed Yemeni absolute and unlimited solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its people in confronting attempts to undermine its security and stability.
He also voiced support for all measures the Kingdom takes to confront terrorist activities exported from Iran, protect its national security and preserve its national interests
Eryani called for unifying the Arab position on confronting common challenges resulting from Iranian intervention, and for more cooperation in various fields to confront Tehran’s serious and unprecedented terrorist activities, which threaten regional and international peace and security.
The minister’s call also coincides with the Yemeni government accusing Iran of infringing and illegally fishing in Yemeni territorial waters.
“Iran flagrantly oversteps the Yemeni sovereignty,” Yemeni Minister of Fisheries Fahd Kafain tweeted, as “more than 40 Iranian fishing ships entered the Yemeni waters off Socotra archipelago.”
Through its repeated transgressions in the Yemeni waters, Iran “commits subversive acts,” Kafain added.
The Yemeni minister called on the international community to take decisive stance at the “destructive role played by Iran in Yemen.”
He also called for a stronger “coordination between the Yemeni government and the Arab coalition to counter the Iranian violations and to protect the Yemeni waters and maritime resources from abuses in the form of illegal fishing.”
The international silence at Iran's “blatant infringements against Yemen's sovereignty encroaches on the UN principles, international legitimacy and nations' sovereignty and security,” Kafain added.
The Yemeni government has frequently accused Iran of using fishing ships in Yemeni territorial waters to cover its smuggling of arms, ballistic missiles and drones to the Tehran-backed Houthi group.
