The Sharjah Department of Culture has released the 62nd issue (November issue) of Al Shariqa Al Thaqafia Magazine. The introduction discusses the linguistic and rhetoric heritage Arab scholars left, building a bridge for cultural connection through their publications, ideas, and theories spread around the world.
In his op-ed entitled “Cultural Personality of the Year… Excellence and Distinction Award,” Editor-in-Chief Nawaf Youness explores the vital and crucial role played by the winner of this award, which went to Kuwaiti novelist Taleb al-Refai this year. The Cultural Personality of the Year Award is given by the Sharjah International Book Fair, based on the directions of Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, member of the Supreme Council of the United Arab Emirates.
In the 62nd issue, Yakzan Mustapha highlights the role of Arabs in “making tricks,” while Hassan al-Wazzani publishes an interview with US Orientalist Justin Stearns. Ahmed Abdulrazzak covers the connection between Al-Andalus and the Orient with the western civilization, and Mohammed Fouad highlights El Qanater charity city, which was established by Muhammad Ali of Egypt based on the idea of Napoleon Bonaparte. Also, Hassan bin Mohammed shed lights of the charm of nature in Ifran, one of the oldest Moroccan cities.
In the “Literatures and Authors” section, Ahmed Fadel Shabloul explores the female presence in the novels of Naguib Mahfouz, who described women as “half of the world.” Tharaa Hani reads the biography of Moroccan poet and novelist Mohamed Serghini, while Zamzam al-Sayed writes about Mohammed al-Sibai, who was praised by Taha Hussein and mourned by Mustapha Al-Akkad. Linda Ibrahim writes about the works of Mounir Khalaf, while Ghenwa Abbas showcases the experience of Saad Mekkawi. Amir Shafiq Hassanin explores the experience of Sudanese poet Idriss Jamaa, and Ruwaida Mohammed writes about novelist and playwright Besher Fares. Athab al-Roikabi celebrates the biography of poet Muhammed al-Shahat, and Rabea al-Khatam writes about novelist Abdulaal al- Hamamsy.
