Egypt and UAE have agreed on continuous coordination to support stability in the region.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received on Thursday a phone call from Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

They discussed bilateral cooperation and relations between the two countries, said Egyptian Presidential Spokesperson Bassam Radi in a statement.

Both leaders exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

“There was an agreement to continue coordination and consultation between the two sides to serve the interest of both countries and peoples and to support security and stability in the region,” Radi added.

In August, the Egyptian President met with a high-level Emirati delegation to discuss enhancing bilateral ties in all aspects.

Sisi expressed Egypt's interest in exploring new cooperation opportunities in numerous domains to consolidate the strategic bilateral relations, given their essential role in maintaining stability in the Arab region.

Last July, Sheikh Mohamed accompanied Sisi at the inauguration of the “3 July Naval Base” in Gargoub on Egypt’s northwestern coast.

In the same context, and in a phone call with the Egyptian President, Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince welcomed in May the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and expressed the UAE’s support for Egyptian efforts to achieve security and stability in the region,

Further, they both discussed in April in Cairo the latest regional and international developments of mutual interest.

Sheikh Mohamed reaffirmed the UAE's determination to keep channels of coordination with Egypt open.

Kuwait's foreign ministry issued on Sunday a circular indicating that it had listed eight hospitals in Lebanon as part of regulations related to "combating terrorism.”

Lebanon's health ministry expressed surprise and said it would seek clarification.

It said it received the Kuwaiti statement "with great surprise", adding it had not been provided with "any information or notification from any Kuwaiti entity about this matter.”

"The hospitals mentioned in the statement are registered with the syndicate of private hospitals in Lebanon and carry out their role in providing treatment and health services to all Lebanese without exception," the ministry statement said.

It called the facilities "an essential part of the Lebanese health system,” and said it would contact the relevant authorities to request clarification and "protect Lebanon's health system.”

It noted that "Kuwait has numerous joint projects with the ministry... and has been among the most prominent countries that have stood by the health system during the successive crises that Lebanon has faced.”

The latest move was "unprecedented and inconsistent" with the Gulf country's usual approach, it added.
