Iran will survive even if there are no talks with the United States and more sanctions are applied, President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Monday according to state media, after US President Donald Trump said weekend negotiations with Tehran were "very good".

"It's not like we will die of hunger if they refuse to negotiate with us or impose sanctions. We will find a way to survive," Pezeshkian said, referring to the talks over Iran's nuclear program.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has told US President Donald Trump and Iranian officials that he supports the idea of a nuclear deal in which Iran is unable to enrich uranium, Axios reported on Saturday, citing sources, Reuters reported.

Iran's semi-official news agency Tasnim denied the report, quoting an "informed source" as saying Putin had not sent any message to Iran in this regard.
