Two days after the US struck Iranian-backed sites in eastern Syria, the area witnessed a delivery of heavy weapons and drones to Iranian militias in Deir Ezzor’s countryside.
A local news outlet reported military reinforcements for the Afghan “Fatemiyoun Brigade” in Al-Sabikhan town, east of Deir Ezzor.
Five Toyota Hilux trucks loaded with short-range missiles and drones arrived at the water filtration station in Al-Sabikhan. The shipment, accompanied by Hezbollah and Iranian Revolutionary Guard members, included various missiles and drones.
A UK-based war monitor, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, mentioned that Iranian militias transported all military vehicles from Ayyash warehouse in Deir Ezzor to Al-Tala’ae Camp.
Moreover, the militias emptied their warehouses of weapons and ammunition before the latest US strike, and moved them to other positions, amid major mobilization of foreign members in neighborhoods of the city.
Al-Bukamal City in eastern Deir Ezzor countryside also witnessed extensive security mobilization of Iranian militias that worked on transporting the commanders to Al-Masakin Neighborhood in Deir Ezzor City, and transport others from positions near the borders between Syria and Iraq to Palmyra City.
As of Sunday, militias allied with Iran are on edge, especially the “17th Division” in Al-Bukamal, fearing new US airstrikes in Deir Ezzor.
There are shifts in the locations of their weapons and ammo depots in Al-Mayadeen and Al-Bukamal.
The Observatory reported a meeting between Syrian security officials and party members in Deir Ezzor and Al-Mayadeen.
They are checking individuals coming from areas controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) to ensure no transfer of sensitive information about militias.
In Al-Bukamal, a regime checkpoint inspected civilians, likely in response to recent US airstrikes.
The Syrian Observatory documented US airstrikes covering around 130 km from Deir Ezzor to the Syrian-Iraqi border on Friday night.
