The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, has highlighted the important role of the private sector in achieving economic integration in GCC countries.
Albudaiwi participated in the third meeting of the GCC heads and members of chambers in Bahrain's capital Manama.
The GCC Secretary-General indicated that the meeting aims to create space for periodic dialogues between policymakers, decision-makers, heads, and members of commerce chambers in the GCC countries on various matters related to issues of Gulf economic cooperation.
Albudaiwi explained in his speech that the leaders of the GCC countries have stressed their support for a joint Gulf action to achieve the aspirations of the Council’s citizens aiming for greater interconnection, cooperation and integration among those states in various fields during the 43rd summit held in December 2022 in Riyadh, and the 18th consultative meeting held in July 2023 in Jeddah.
He also stressed the importance of supporting and strengthening the partnership between the public and private sectors in GCC countries.
He expressed the general secretariat's keenness to monitor, study, and address the challenges and obstacles facing the private sector and search for sustainable solutions like promoting intra-trade between Gulf states.
