Türkiye state grain board TMO has bought about 250,000 metric tons of animal feed barley in an international tender on Thursday, European traders said.
The purchases were made in several consignments with the lowest estimated price of $245.80 a ton cost and freight included (c&f) for about 25,000 tons bought from trading house Tarimex, according to Reuters.
Purchases in TMO’s tenders are provisional and subject to final confirmation in coming days. Purchases can be cancelled completely. Reports reflect assessments from traders and further estimates of prices and volumes are still possible later.
The barley was sought for shipment between November 10 and December 10 in a series of consignments of 5,000 to 25,000 tons to a series of Turkish ports. Supplies already imported to Türkiye and stored in customs-bonded warehouses can be offered but not domestic supplies, traders said.

Traders say Türkiye's harvest of barley and other grains will be smaller than hoped this year, generating a need for imports to stabilise prices and ensure sufficient supplies.
