Spokesman of the legitimate Yemeni government Rajeh al-Badi condemned the Iran-backed Houthi militias for planting mines throughout Yemeni territories, saying it was not unusual for them to place sea mines along international shipping lanes.
In remarks to Asharq Al-Awsat, he said: “It is time for the international community to designate the Houthi militias as terrorist.”
“It must put an end to its hostile acts against civilians and energy supplies in the Red Sea,” he remarked in wake of the Saudi-led Arab coalition’s announcement on Tuesday that it had destroyed five Houthi sea mines in the southern Red Sea.
Badi expressed the Yemeni government’s condemnation of all of the Houthi terrorist acts and attacks against energy facilities in Saudi Arabia.
The militias are an armed wing of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps and they are carrying out orders issued by Tehran, he added, saying that they have become a “real danger” to the region and world.
