Israeli troops killed a Palestinian in Jenin, north West Bank, saying he was part of a cell responsible for the shooting attack last week near Nablus.

The Palestinian health ministry said that the man killed in the raid is Ahmed Nasser Jarrer, the son of Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades official in the West Bank who was killed during the second uprising in 2002.

Israeli security forces raided Jenin Wednesday night, and clashes started midnight and continued until the early morning hours. The clashes expanded to other zones in Jenin and the Israeli Forces maintained Jenin as a military closed zone throughout the operation.

Director of the Red Crescent ambulance in Jenin Mahmoud al-Saadi said in a statement that three young men were injured in clashes between Palestinians and Israeli soldiers in Jenin camp.

In his turn, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hailed his army and said that he blesses the operation, asserting that anyone who tries to target Israel citizens will be presented to judiciary.

Israeli Defence Minister Avigdor Lieberman bragged that the Israeli forces reached the Palestinians who killed Rabbin Raziel Shevah, 35, on Jan. 9.

Widow of the killed rabbin thanked the security forces, exploiting the chance to call for legitimizing a nearby settlement zone as a response to the killing of her husband.

She added that the death of saboteurs means nothing to her since she wasn’t after revenge or retaliation as the “struggle is national and not personal.”

Hamas initial comment pledged to move on with the ‘resistance’ in which Hamas official Sami Abu Zuhri affirmed that Jenin cell wasn’t the first and won’t be the last.

For his part, Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum stated that all the equations which the occupation tried to impose on the West Bank during the past years collapsed in face of Jenin battle heroes' insistence.

The European Union on Monday condemned new Israeli measures to tighten control of the West Bank and pave the way for more settlements in the occupied Palestinian territory, AFP reported.

"The European Union condemns recent decisions by Israel's security cabinet to expand Israeli control in the West Bank. This move is another step in the wrong direction," EU spokesman Anouar El Anouni told journalists.

The atrocities unleashed on El-Fasher in Sudan's Darfur region last October were a "preventable human rights catastrophe", the United Nations said Monday, warning they now risked being repeated in the neighbouring Kordofan region.

"My office sounded the alarm about the risk of mass atrocities in the besieged city of El-Fasher for more than a year ... but our warnings were ignored," UN rights chief Volker Turk told the Human Rights Council in Geneva.

He added that he was now "extremely concerned that these violations and abuses may be repeated in the Kordofan region".

The General Secretariat of the Arab League strongly condemned decisions by Israeli occupation authorities to impose fundamental changes on the legal and administrative status of the occupied Palestinian territories, particularly in the West Bank, describing them as a dangerous escalation and a flagrant violation of international law, international legitimacy resolutions, and signed agreements, SPA reported.

In a statement, the Arab League said the measures include facilitating the confiscation of private Palestinian property and transferring planning and licensing authorities in the city of Hebron and the area surrounding the Ibrahimi Mosque to occupation authorities.

It warned of the serious repercussions of these actions on the rights of the Palestinian people and on Islamic and Christian holy sites.

The statement reaffirmed the Arab League’s firm support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them the establishment of their independent state on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
