Saudi Ambassador to the United States Princess Reema bint Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz announced on Tuesday the launch of the 10KSA Initiative's new campaign under the theme “Together for Health.”
She made the announcement during the eighth annual Global Health Exhibition held at the Riyadh Exhibition and Convention Center in Malham from October 27 to 30.
Addressing the exhibition, Princess Reema said the initiative promotes awareness and understanding of the importance of preventive health through regular checkups and early detection, which can significantly improve treatment outcomes.
10KSA raises awareness of all types of cancer while encouraging early screenings and promoting healthy lifestyles through a range of activities, she added. It includes the planting of 10,000 lavender seedlings in Aseer to mark the initiative’s tenth anniversary and the creation of lavender ribbons to be shared and documented on social media platforms.
The 10KSA Initiative operates through an integrated government effort that reflects collaboration across sectors to strengthen public health awareness. It is supported by the Ministry of Health; the General Secretariat of the Ministerial Committee of Health in All Policies (HiAP); the Ministry of Education; the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture; the Aseer Development Authority; the Environment Fund; and the Morooj Foundation. Its partners include the Arab National Bank, Mukatafa consulting firm, ROSHN Group, and webook.com.
The 10KSA Initiative reinforces the principle of prevention before treatment, the Ministry of Health stated, emphasizing its commitment to coordination with both public and private sectors in support of the Health Sector Transformation Program, one of the key initiatives under Saudi Vision 2030. The program aims to build “A Vibrant Society” enjoying sustainable well-being and “An Ambitious Nation” working in harmony to enhance performance and efficiency.
Princess Reema first launched the 10KSA Initiative in 2015 to promote cancer prevention. The initiative still holds the Guinness World Record for the Largest Human Awareness Ribbon, achieved with the participation of around 9,000 women in Riyadh.
